FAQ's
Q: Can I have a bot?
A: Maybe yes maybe no. There are many reasons to say no, all of which can be found on the rules page. If your channel meets those requirements, it will be the bot's admin that make the final decision.
Q: What kind of bots do the Bot Team run?
A: The Bot Team run eggdrop bots. For more information on eggdrop bots, please visit slennox's eggdrop page or join #admin.bots and ask.
Q: What do Bot Team Bots do to protect my channel?
A: These bots are currently equipped with all-purpose flood TCLs. They protect from all floods; including messages, actions, ctcps, nicks, kicks, and deops.
Q: That is not a bot, it's a user, why can't I have a bot? (In regards to the "no other bots" rule)/
A: Any bot with *bot* in the /whois or in the nick is immediately considered a bot and your channel will be denied if such is found.
Q: Where can I get my own bot like these?
A: As stated above, these are eggdrops. They can be downloaded at slennox's eggdrop page. TCLs are also something to look into for your eggdrop bot(s) which can also be found on slennox's eggdrop page.
Q: Can I have access to the bot(s)?
A: No. The people who do have access to the bots are trusted Bot Team staff. You can always join us at #admin.bots to earn access to the bots by helping out, but users aren't permitted to have access to the bots for their channel for securty issues.
Q: How do they work?
A: Our bots currently only have flood control capabilities. As stated above, the bots protect from all types of floods.
Q: How can I control it?
A: You can't. For security reasons, only members of the bots team may control the bots. If you have any problems with the bots, please join #admin.bots and tell us about it.
Q: Does it cost money?
A: No, we provide bots as a free service.
Q: Can I have bots or channel access?
A: For security reasons, #admin.bots must gain your complete trust after you have put in your share of work with helping users. After you've helped enough users to the best to your ability, you may be added to a channel access list, but that doesn't mean you can control the bots. Your complete trust is essential when given access to the bots.
Q: How can I help the team?
A: You can help the team by helping the users who come into #admin.bots for assistance with their bots. You should know the rules in and out to assist the users.
