What is cloning?
I didn't clone! I don't even know what it means!
Cloning can be described as the connection of multiple
clients from a single IP Address or Host. Cloning can
cause many problems to networks, and are generally used
in the flooding of a channel and causing various network
harm. It is for this reason that we have decided it
necessary to limit the number of connections allowed
from a certain user
How can I prevent myself from
being akilled?
The best way to try to prevent yourself from being akilled
is to limit the number of connections from your IP.
If you are at a Cyber Cafe, you are at the highest risk
for being akilled. But, if you keep only 1 or 2 connections
from your IP from your location of your connection,
you have almost no chance of being autokilled for cloning.
How many connections allowed
on WebChat?
You are allowed no more than 2 connections from a given
IP/Host. If you go beyond this, you are at risk for
being caught and removed from the WebChat IRC network
due to cloning.
What if you are in a cyber
cafe and you have been akilled?
If you are at a cyber cafe and you are disconnected
due to cloning there is a few things you can do. First,
you can tell the manager of the cafe to visit this page
for a description of what happened. Secondly, you can
wait 30 minutes (the time of most akills) and try to
reconnect. You may also look around and see if you can
find anybody cloning and tell them that it is not good
and that everyone now has to suffer because of them.
Who do I get in touch with
to complain?
If for some reason you believe you were incorrectly
disconnected from the WebChat IRC network you can do
a few things. You may email kline@webchat.org
with a copy of the AutoKill Message, your IP Address,
and a description of what happened. If the autokill
has expired, you may go to #klineteam on WebChat to
also receive information.
